Each year, the Junior League of Indianapolis looks to partner with other financially sound nonprofit organizations. We strive to find community partners, in Marion and surrounding counties, whose mission or programs complement the mission statement of the JLI and/or the JLI's focus on child health and welfare. The JLI supports community organizations in need of trained volunteers and/or financial support for existing or planned community programs. There are three main ways for community organizations to partner with the JLI:

Community Projects: Each Community Project involves a partnership between the JLI and another nonprofit organization, with the JLI providing both funding and trained volunteers to the partnering organization. To be selected, an organization must serve a constituency in Marion or a surrounding county and propose a program that either complements the Junior League's mission statement or falls within the JLI's focus on the health and education of children and their families. In recent years, the JLI has supported three to five Community Projects annually. While the JLI invites applications for new Community Projects each year, one or more of the projects selected each year may be a renewal of a project supported in the prior year. In selecting Community Projects, our membership considers whether a proposed project will: (1) serve a community need; (2) complement our mission statement or fall within our focus area; and (3) match our volunteers' capabilities and needs. For additional information or to apply for a Community Project, please see the 2010-2011 Application for JLI Community Assistance.

Community Assistance Grants: Each year, the JLI awards Community Assistance Grants (CAGs) to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in Central Indiana. Each CAG recipient is eligible to receive up to $10,000 in funding. Unlike our Community Project partners, CAG recipients do not receive volunteer support from the JLI. In 2009, the JLI awarded $62,500 to local nonprofits. For additional information or to apply for a Community Assistance Grant, please see the 2009-2010 Application for JLI Community Assistance Grants.

Do-in-a-Day Assistance: Through our Do-in-a-Day (DIAD) Committee, the JLI assists other organizations in need of volunteers for single-day events or projects. JLI volunteers have provided assistance to a wide variety of events and organizations around the city, often participating in two to three projects a month. Typically, these projects support other nonprofit organizations that assist children, women, or older adults, or that promote a positive image for Indianapolis. Our DIAD Committee consists of a group of trained volunteers ready to assist your organization with a regular program or with your next community event. For additional information or to apply for DIAD assistance, please see the 2009-2010 Application for JLI DIAD Assistance.
