How to Join:  Please complete this application to become a member of our January 2018 Provisional Class. Applications will be accepted through November 1, 2017 for the January start class, and the application window for the July 2018 start class will be open from December 1, 2017 through May 1, 2018.

Who can join the Junior League of Indianapolis?

The Junior League of Indianapolis has few simple criteria for Membership Eligibility.

• Residents of the Indianapolis area (within such distance as to be able to fulfill your volunteer service requirements)
• Must be 21 years of age (by February 1 of the year you are submitting an application)
• Demonstrate an interest in voluntarism and commitment to community service
• Show an interest in developing your potential for voluntary community participation
• Meet financial commitments in regard to joining fee and annual dues

What can I expect in my first year of membership?

The first year of membership is called your Provisional year. As a provisional member you will go through a training program that offers wide exposure to the various aspects of the Junior League. The main focus of this year is to familiarize you with the purpose, goals, and organizational structure of the League, and to prepare you for effective participation as a Junior League volunteer. Courses begin each year in January and July, with the first six months focused on training and League education, and the second six months dedicated to a volunteer placement. Upon completion of the provisional training program you will be eligible to become an Active member of the Junior League of Indianapolis.

What are my requirements of membership?

There are both monetary and time commitments with your Junior League membership. Below you will find those items outlined. These items are subject to change. They will be more formally outlined at the first Provisional Course meeting.

Monetary commitment for the Provisional year

• Annual dues of $128.00 (Payment plans are available)
• Provisional Fee of $50.00
• 5 Holiday Mart Tickets for $15.00

Time commitment

• Complete the 4 Provisional Training Course Sessions
• Complete the 4 Experiential Learning Sessions
• Satisfy the requirements of your volunteer placement

Members of the Junior League of Indianapolis are accomplished collaborators who build coalitions, identify community needs, and develop effective and responsive programs to serve those needs. The Junior League of Indianapolis empowers women through leadership training and development to take action in their communities.

Community impact

As a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, you will promote voluntarism and improve the community. Whether you work directly on a community project or in a support role such as fundraising, marketing, or training, you will see the community impact that the women of the JLI make by working together.

Personal impact

As a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, you will develop your potential, make new friends, and find a volunteer placement just right for you - something that you are passionate about and works with your schedule. You will also have many opportunities for leadership, as there are over 50 committee leadership positions available every year.

How to Join the Junior League of Indianapolis

Applications for membership are typically accepted from June 1 through November 1 for the January start class and from December 1 through May 1 for the July start class. Complete the online application to join the next available class. If you would like to become involved with the Junior League of Indianapolis prior to the start of your Provisional Year, we welcome you to attend as many recruitment events as you wish.

Informational recruitment events for women interested in joining the Junior League of Indianapolis are held throughout the year. Past events have included service projects, training courses, Sun King Brewery Tours, Holiday Mart, scavenger hunts, yoga classes, ballroom dancing classes, flower arranging, and cupcake decorating. Prospective new member events are posted on the home page of the JLI website.

Attendance at  a recruitment session is not required to submit a membership application, however we would welcome the opportunity to meet you at as many of these events that you would like to attend!
