Preparing Students for Academic Success
The Junior League of Indianapolis has been committed to the health and education of children and their families for the past 90 years. Currently, JLI has a particular emphasis on education and preparing students for academic success. Since 2011, we have invested more than $500,000 in this issue area.
2014-2015 Projects and Partnerships
Pre-K Classrooms: A Model for Establishing High Quality Pre-K Programs in Schools
We are excited to partner with Early Learning Indiana (formerly Day Nursery) support the school communities with volunteers to support teachers and students by engaging with the children in the classroom and afterschool activities and assisting teachers in classroom preparation. In addition, the JLI will be providing tuition assistance for low-income families.
We are continuing our partnership with School on Wheels by providing program funding and volunteers for one on one or small group tutoring for families living in transitional housing.
Elementary School Signature Project
For our new signature project, we have partnered with Stephen Foster Elementary to provide support for their key needs.
Kids in the Kitchen
As part of the AJLI's childhood obesity prevention initiative, Junior League of Indianapolis has recently revived its Kids in the Kitchen program, a family-friendly event focusing on nutrition, exercise, healthy cooking, and understanding everything from where food comes from to what it does in your body.
