Junior League of Indianapolis Awards $50,000 in Community Assistance Grants

INDIANAPOLIS (December 2025) — The Junior League of Indianapolis (JLI) has awarded $50,000 in Community Assistance Grants to five local nonprofit organizations supporting foster youth and kinship care across Central Indiana.

“The Junior League of Indianapolis is proud to partner with these incredible organizations who are meeting families where they are and responding to urgent community needs,” said Alex Kennedy, President of the Junior League of Indianapolis. “Together, we are not only addressing immediate gaps in care and resources, but also building a stronger, more supportive community for foster youth and kinship families throughout Central Indiana.”

Each year, JLI awards Community Assistance Grants to organizations whose work aligns with the League’s mission to support youth in foster and kinship care.

Firefly Children & Family Alliance received $20,000 to provide childcare assistance for up to 40 children in foster care, helping foster families maintain placements and ensuring access to high-quality care amid economic uncertainty.

Allies, Inc. was awarded $15,000 to support its trauma-informed mentorship and caregiver support program serving youth survivors of trafficking, many of whom have experience in the foster care system.

In addition, three organizations each received $5,000 grants.

The Cooper House will expand its Community Closet to provide essential items to foster children and families during times of transition.

Pretty Passionate Hands will offer mentorship, life-skills education, and resources to teen mothers, supporting family stability.

Warren Arts & Education Foundation will establish school-based resource hubs providing clothing and hygiene supplies so students can focus on academic success.

Since 2000, the JLI Community Assistance Grants program has distributed nearly $5 million to local nonprofits, furthering its mission to improve the lives of children and families. JLI is proud to partner with these organizations to make meaningful, lasting impacts in the community.

Junior League of Indianapolis Awards $50,000 to Local Nonprofits Supporting Children and Families

INDIANAPOLIS– This holiday season, the Junior League of Indianapolis (JLI) is thrilled to announce the recipients of its 2024 Community Assistance Grants, totaling $50,000 in support of local organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Central Indiana.

The grants were awarded to three impactful nonprofits whose work addresses critical community needs:

  • Foster Success ($20,000): Funding will support the Basic Needs Program, which provides one-on-one financial guidance and resources to older foster youth. This program helps young people navigate the complexities of adulthood, build long-term support networks, and access critical resources, empowering them to create sustainable futures.

  • New Shoe Day ($15,000): Funds will expand the organization’s partnership with Isaiah 117 House to establish and replenish shoe banks in Marion and Boone counties. This initiative will provide over 400 children entering foster care with new, name-brand shoes, helping restore dignity, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of belonging during challenging transitions.

  • Kids’ Voice of Indiana ($15,000): The Little Voices – Big Futures initiative will use the grant to serve preschool-aged children by identifying learning needs through early assessments and supporting families and caregivers in engaging children in high-quality early learning opportunities.

“During this season of giving, we’re reminded that the greatest gifts are those that uplift others,” said Sarah Balana Molter, JLI Grants Vice President. “These grants represent not only JLI’s financial support but also our belief in the transformative work of these organizations. Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive community for children and families in need.”

Since 2000, the JLI Community Assistance Grants program has distributed nearly $5 million to local nonprofits, furthering its mission to support youth in foster and kinship care. JLI is proud to partner with these organizations to make meaningful, lasting impacts in the community.
