Do-In-A-Day
Through our Do-in-a-Day (DIAD) Committee, the JLI assists other organizations in need of volunteers for single-day events or projects. JLI volunteers have provided assistance to a wide variety of events and organizations around the city, often participating in two to three projects a month. Typically, these projects support other nonprofit organizations that assist children, women, or older adults, or that promote a positive image for Indianapolis. Our DIAD Committee consists of a group of trained volunteers ready to assist your organization with a regular program or with your next community event.
Applications for potential Do-in-a-Day projects are accepted from June 1 through February 1 of the following year. While the JLI normally provides volunteers for events occurring in August through the following May, requests for assistance for events in other months will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please keep the following in mind in applying for assistance:
1. Through our Do-in-a-Day Committee, organizations receive volunteer support only. No funding is provided to the sponsoring organization.
2. Typical events or projects seek 15 or fewer volunteers and are completed in one day or less.
3. The DIAD Committee does not participate in other organizations' fundraising efforts or provide event planning assistance. Rather, Committee members provide volunteer support on the day of the event or project.
For additional information or to apply for DIAD assistance, please see the 2009-2010 Application for JLI DIAD Assistance.
