Who can join the Junior League of Indianapolis?

The Junior League of Indianapolis reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. If you are a woman interested in volunteering and looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others in the Indianapolis area? The Junior League of Indianapolis may be for you!

The Junior League of Indianapolis has few simple criteria for Membership Eligibility.

1. Residents of the Indianapolis area (within such distance as to make the fulfillment of your volunteer service requirements).
2. You have reached your 21st birthday by February 1, the date admission forms are due.
3. You have an interest in voluntarism.
4. You have a commitment to community service.
5. You have an interest in developing your potential for voluntary community participation.


What can I expect in my first year of membership?

The first year of membership is called your Provisional year. As a provisional member you will go through a training program that offers wide exposure to the various aspects of the Junior League. The main focus of this year is to familiarize you with the purpose, goals, and organizational structure of the League, and to prepare you for effective participation as a Junior League volunteer. Each year's course begins in May and wraps up in April. Upon completion of the provisional training program you will become an Active member of the Junior League of Indianapolis.

What are my requirements of membership?

There are both monetary and time commitments with your Junior League membership. Below you will find those items outlined. These items are subject to change. They will be more formally outlined at the first Provisional Course meeting.

Monetary Commitment

• Payment of annual dues $120 (Payment plans are available) – Due April 1
• Payment of Provisional Fee $50 – Due April 1
• Payment of Holiday Mart Tickets $15– Due April 1
• Payment of Annual Dinner Fee $30 – Due June

Time Commitment

• Attendance at Annual Dinner
• Attendance at 4 of the 7 General Meetings
• Completion of Provisional Training Course
• 4 hour volunteer commitment at Holiday Mart
• 4 hour volunteer commitment community
• 4 hour additional volunteer commitment as outlined in provisional course
