Membership Criteria

  • Resident of the Indianapolis area (within such distance as to be able to fulfill your volunteer service requirements.)
  • Must be 21 years of age (by July 1 of the year you are submitting an application)
  • Demonstrate an interest in voluntarism and commitment to community service
  • Show an interest in developing your potential for voluntary community participation
  • Meet financial commitments for payment of application fee and annual dues and fulfill service hours and credits required
  • Participate in the New Member Experience

New Member Experience

The New Member Experience is designed to introduce you to the JLI and prepare you for active membership.  Upon the completion of the New Member Experience, you will become an Active member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, equipped with the following.

  • A working knowledge of how the Junior League of Indianapolis operates and the means in which it impacts the community.
  • An understanding of your role within the Junior League of Indianapolis and the many opportunities to serve Indianapolis and surrounding communities.
  • New relationships with other JLI new members and the membership at large.

Summer 2026 Class Requirements and Expectations

  • 1 Super Saturday Welcome Event
  • 1 Collaboration Session
  • 1 Volunteer Session
  • 1 Training Session
  • 1 Fund Development Session
  • 2 General Membership Meetings
  • Time Expectation: 4 hours per month for the 6-month class

Financial Commitment for Membership

The JLI year runs from June-May, the financial commitment is broken down as:

Summer 2026:

  • $168.00: JLI Membership Dues
  • $50.00: One-Time New Member Fee
  • $43.00: AJLI Fee
  • $30.00: Holiday Mart Ticket Bundle (5 tickets)
