Junior League of Indianapolis Awards $50,000 to Local Nonprofits Supporting Children and Families

INDIANAPOLIS– This holiday season, the Junior League of Indianapolis (JLI) is thrilled to announce the recipients of its 2024 Community Assistance Grants, totaling $50,000 in support of local organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Central Indiana.

The grants were awarded to three impactful nonprofits whose work addresses critical community needs:

  • Foster Success ($20,000): Funding will support the Basic Needs Program, which provides one-on-one financial guidance and resources to older foster youth. This program helps young people navigate the complexities of adulthood, build long-term support networks, and access critical resources, empowering them to create sustainable futures.

  • New Shoe Day ($15,000): Funds will expand the organization’s partnership with Isaiah 117 House to establish and replenish shoe banks in Marion and Boone counties. This initiative will provide over 400 children entering foster care with new, name-brand shoes, helping restore dignity, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of belonging during challenging transitions.

  • Kids’ Voice of Indiana ($15,000): The Little Voices – Big Futures initiative will use the grant to serve preschool-aged children by identifying learning needs through early assessments and supporting families and caregivers in engaging children in high-quality early learning opportunities.

“During this season of giving, we’re reminded that the greatest gifts are those that uplift others,” said Sarah Balana Molter, JLI Grants Vice President. “These grants represent not only JLI’s financial support but also our belief in the transformative work of these organizations. Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive community for children and families in need.”

Since 2000, the JLI Community Assistance Grants program has distributed nearly $5 million to local nonprofits, furthering its mission to support youth in foster and kinship care. JLI is proud to partner with these organizations to make meaningful, lasting impacts in the community.
